IBM 5100
Hello there, this is John Titor.
I am a traveler from the year 2036.
I came to 1975 in order to retrieve an IBM 5100 computer, which can be seen in the image below:
I heard that there are many enthusiast collectors of computing equipment around this time era, thus this message has been sent in order to attempt to purchase such a computer unit.
Due to the incompetence of certain management units, we still use some critical legacy 32-bit computer systems in our time. Because of this, the day when the UNIX time rollover (19 January 2038 03:14:07 UTC) is not far away. Our important computer systems will crash and will experience data loss if this isn't remedied.
The IBM 5100 is known for it's ability to run and debug several mainframe systems with languages such as APL and BASIC due to it's Microcode based emulator capable of emulating several IBM mainframe systems. Because of this, it will be very useful in the maintenance of our systems.
Unfortunately, due to the civil war which occurred in 2008, many important artefacts have been destroyed, including many legacy computer systems. Having the only system running here, we do not have any documentation or details on how to keep it running.
If a war did not happen in the time specified above, I've probably end up in a different world line and would need to get back.
I have embedded this message into one of the early PDP-11 mainframe systems used in 1975 which were connected to ARPANET. The message is designed to be passed down hidden, through multiple generations of computers. If my attempts at acquiring an IBM 5100 from 1975 has failed, this message should be automatically released into a random time on the ARPANET system, which may be called the "Internet" in your time.
I have also prepared this message in anticipation of CERN's World Wide Web system, such that the majority of people should be able to view it with the use of a "Web Browser". Because of how long the message is in the system, dates you see may predate the existence of your server.
I hope I can find suitable help. Please reply if you have such a computer system.
